Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa met with U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates at the Pentagon late March 24 to discuss the two countries’ defense relationship. Manama and Washington’s military cooperation has been long-standing and strong, but this latest (and low-key) meeting comes amid renewed tensions between Iran and the United States.
