Eritrea cut off fuel supplies to U.N. peacekeepers patrolling the disputed border between Ethiopia and Eritrea, media reported Jan. 23. The move by Eritrea is an attempt to enforce a border demarcation it favors but that Ethiopia opposes. While tensions are high between the two countries, an immediate resumption of hostilities is unlikely, and the U.N. peacekeepers are likely to remain in place.
